An analytical and numerical study on influence of the load transfer shallow mixing layer on stress-induced and settlement of ground improved by CDM columns

Abstract In the literature, there are a few analytical methods for evaluating stress induced on CDM column heads and most of them involve use geosynthetics embedded layers, except method ALiCC. However, ALiCC still has some limitations in actual designs. This paper presents numerical analysis (by using Plaxis software) method) influence thickness stiffness SM layer (without layers) settlement improved ground. A typical parametric case project were taken into analyses. Analysis results from examined cases indicate that, as expected, when or increases, ground decreases head increases. An important finding this study is that maximum typically not columns but at middle depths where soil layers softer than bearing toes.
